Director at Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta & NWT (Edmonton)
October 2010 - October 2011As a Director, my role allowed me to help guide and promote JA in everything from budget, to events, to student out comes. Junior Achievement is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating students about work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. We are spread over 122 countries around the world and reach 9.7 million students per year. At JA Northern Alberta we reach over 16,000 students per year and we've got big plans to expand our reach. This is all possible through a partnership between the business community, educators and volunteers who work [hard] together to inspire young people to reach their dreams and tap into their potential. Our approach to educating allows volunteers to deliver our curriculum while sharing their own experiences and knowledge. The value is in the 'real world' perspective that the students get.
